Sleep ~ Who needs it?

Sleep ~ who needs it?

When I go to bed, I am so ready.  I fall right to sleep.  But then,

Around 3:00, my eyes pop open and my Brain

It's pretty indecisive as to when to shut off.  Sometimes it's just for a few minutes, sometimes it's just for an hour, today it was for two.  So, I am

My brain has a mind of its own because all I want to do is

But it has other topics in mind, like what I need to do at school, I wonder how (insert any name here) is really doing, what should I wear tomorrow?, I really need to shedule to get my oil changed, I wonder if I'll be able to sleep all the way through the night tomorrow..etc...etc...etc...

The thing about my brain, is that it doesn't realize that I will

I won't let it get the best of me.  I will go on throughout my day scoffing at it when I do something even when I am tired.

Yeah, we'll see who is boss...

Especially tonight around 3:00...

Sleep, who needs it?

  1. I know this all too well! Especially the etc etc etc part!
I'm starting to think we should start an insomniac writing club. ;)
May you make it through your day until a reasonable hour and then get a fantastic night of uninterrupted sleep!

  2. I think we should call this racing brain "teacher's brain." I think our brains rewire themselves to multitask and think at all hours and at all times. I just wish they had an off switch. . . .

  3. I love the way you 'talk' to your insomnia! I feel your pain, but your story made me laugh. Thanks for a great slice, and try to get some sleep!

  4. I know this too! Right before we go to sleep I always tell my husband the 5 (or 50) things that need to happen for the next day and he always asks if I can just turn my brain off--I wish! :)

  5. YEP!!!!! First it was babies, then toddlers, then a son who just never DID sleep through the night even when he was more than old enough to, then stresses of life and work, then BAM, menopause. I haven't had a good night's sleep in almost 14 years. Wishing you a restful, uninterrupted night of SLLLEEEEEEEEEEEEEPPPPPPPPP.

  6. You are getting very sleepy.....very sleepy.....your eyelids are growing heavier and heavier.....
    (is it working?)

  7. Argghhh--this happens to me frequently. I finally started keeping a pad of paper and a pen beside the bed so I could write down those things I thought were waking me up. Sometimes it helps....mostly it doesn't. Glad to hear someone else has these middle of the night wake ups

  8. I can't resist a post about sleep. Why do we get the whirling thoughts at 3 a.m.? And they do keep us awake for awhile. By the time I'm settled and ready to go back to sleep it's 5 a.m. and time to get up. One thing that helps sometimes is to put on my soft eye pads. Something about blocking out all the light soothes my racing thoughts and helps me grab a bit more shut-eye.

  9. Oy, my brain seems to be in cahoots with yours. Sleep: I need it!

  10. Your voice is awesome as you talk to to sleep. I definitely can connect. Hope you are sleeping better.
